I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

A lot of appliances and fixtures have taps that can be turned off. For example, the toilet will have a tap below or beside the cistern. If you can’t find a tap, or that doesn’t stop the leak, then turn off the mains water isolating tap to stop all water to the home.

Once that’s done, give our team a call, no matter what the day or time is. We will be with you promptly to fix the leak.

While you are waiting, remove any important items close to the leak, and wipe up any water or place a container to catch any drips. If you turned the mains water off, also switch off the heating for the hot water as well.

Help, I don’t know where the main water shutoff valve is!
